THe most popular music festivals in Cuba

When? – Usually every January. It has also been in December.

Where? – Primarily in Havana, but there is usually a Jazz Plaza version happening simultaneously in Santiago de Cuba.

Venues? – The main events occur in theaters like Teatro Nacional and Teatro Karl Marx

Music Styles? – Of course there is a lot of Jazz/Latin Jazz, but also other traditional Cuban styles such as Rumba, Latin Fusion, and you will hear a taste of everything.

When? – Annually in August

Where? – In the beach town of Varadero, in the province of Matanzas. About 2 hours from Havana. 

Venues? – It is completely outdoors at Josone Park in Varadero.

Music Styles? – The festival includes “Rumba, Jazz, Son” in the title. You can expect a fusion of all styles, and a schedule for extremely popular Cuban artists like Alain Perez, Interactivo, Habana D’ Primera and many more

Venues? – Previously at Salon Rosado de la Tropical and Parque Almendares. This festival is subject to change locations based on capacity and ticket sales.

Music Styles? – Expect a mixture of popular local Cuban artists and world music. There are artists from all over the world that come to play. We have seen Korean rock, Reggae, Urban music, Rumba, Son, Jazz, and other Cuban fusion styles.

Where? – In Havana, Cuba

Venues? – This festival is another that takes over all of the major theaters like the National Theater, Karl Marx Theater, and the VIP pass even includes clinics at Fabrica de Arte Cubano (FAC). Famous drummers like Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Rodney Barreto, Dennis Chambers and many more have all participated.

Music Styles? – Expect all Cuban styles, but based around impressive percussion. This is a great time to hear traditional Rumba and see it played authentically. There are fusion elements happening all over Havana. Even in small jazz clubs like Jazz Cafe, and La Zorra y El Cuervo.
